"Honestly, NIT has been perfect for me in terms of flexibility, and I have 5 kids to work around. It was one of the big things that gave me the push to do it. I started doing Pilates when I was postpartum with my last baby and fell in love when it helped with my anxiety. I feel like I’ve found a space where I belong outside of my kids.”

“As a mom (and military spouse), being part of NIT was so much more than the certification. It allowed me to pursue something for me! It was flexible and allowed me to work around my family’s schedule. Even my husband and one of my son’s got involved in my practice hours. Which allowed for both family time while also pursuing my certifications. Highly recommend NIT for any moms looking to do something for themselves that still allows flexibility to be there for their family when needed.”

Frequently Asked Questions
Who can become a Pilates Instructor?
Anyone! Students sign up for Pilates Instructor Training for a variety of reasons and they have a variety of backgrounds. Some students aim to strengthen their movement education strictly for fun and to learn something new. Others have a goal of becoming an instructor. Both are great reasons!
What are the steps to becoming a Pilates Instructor?
Step one is acknowledging your goal to enter a training program.
Step two is to select a training program that aligns with your values and goals.
Step three is to decide if you’d prefer to become trained in mat, reformer or both.
Step four—sign up!
What is the application process like?
For Niche’s Pilates Instructor Training program, there is no application process, but we do request that you have taken at least 20 Pilates prior to sign up. We designed our program to be accessible for all, and we welcome all students, from all backgrounds!
What is the application process like?
Once you sign up you can begin the online portion of the training immediately. Students who register for in person trainings are required to complete the Foundations of Anatomy portion of the online training prior to the first day of in person training (for Mat or Reformer).
How long do I have access to the training material?
Students who test out (whether they pass or not) receive permanent access to our training material. Students who do not test out will have limited access up to 18 months. This applies to both Mat and Reformer courses.
How do I fulfill practice hours?
Personal practice hours can be completed by attending classes at the studio or by practicing alongside our videos online through Niche-On-Demand, our own online library of Mat and Reformer Pilates exercises. This is a complementary service we provide to our students for 1 year.
Observation hours can also be completed in person or by observing our videos through Niche-On-Demand.
Practice teaching hours can be completed by renting one of our private rooms at the studio for $5/hour, or in the comfort of your home or at a park. If you are outside of the Richmond area, you can also practice at a local studio, if available.
What is the testing process?
Your test consists of three elements: written, practical, and demo. You are required to complete all of your online course work and all of your practice hours then submit your practice hours to education@nichefitstudio.com.
After review, you will receive days and times available for your test out. You will then select your preference and receive a link to complete payment for your test out. Test outs are $300 ($100 per element). In the case that you fail one element you will only pay for the element that you need to retake.
How does payment work?
Payments can be made in full or in a 12-month installment plan. Note that payments made in full receive a discount.
What if I decide to opt-out of the training?
All training purchases are non-refundable as you receive immediate access to all online coursework with your registration.
What do I need to complete the program?
Time management and dedication to learning and practicing are key to successful completion. We recommend dedicating six hours per week (on average) to this training program. If you’d prefer to take longer to complete the program please review the details in the next question.
What if I can’t dedicate 6 hours per week?
No worries! If you prefer to dedicate less hours per week, it will simply take you longer. Reach out to us and let us know so that we can support you with your preferred timeline.
What if I want to take the training but not test out?
Testing out is optional! For students who are more aligned with the goal to learn versus the goal to teach, you don’t have to test out. Instructor training is a great way to help you understand your body and movement on a deeper level and we’re always here to support a learning opportunity!
As a reminder, if you elect to not test out, material access is removed after 18 months. You are not required to pass your test out to maintain access to our material.
