Unlock the signature method that defines Niche Pilates.
At Niche, we believe lasting growth—physical, mental, and personal—begins with a positive mindset. This belief guides every aspect of our teaching methodology, from leading group classes and private sessions to mentoring instructors. We developed Niche Instructor Training (NIT) to share our distinctive approach and teaching philosophy, empowering future instructors to create supportive, purposeful learning environments—at Niche and beyond.
Our foundation in anatomy
At Niche Pilates, we offer a safe, supportive space for every stage of our clients’ Pilates journey. From injury recovery and perinatal care to longevity-focused movement, our instruction style is rooted in the anatomy of Pilates movement so that our instructors can meet each client where they are.
Our cueing formula
We prioritize clear, intentional cueing to keep class flowing and clients engaged. Our instructors use positive, empowering language, avoiding body image cues, to highlight the specific muscles being activated and help clients remain focused on intentional movement.
Our class
planning technique
Every class is designed to flow seamlessly to support clients in deepening the connection between their mind and their body throughout class. Each class has a clear theme, purposeful movement around the mat or apparatus, and props used only when they truly add value
If you’re looking to deepen your expertise, our program equips you with the tools to with precision, purpose, and compassion. With both online and studio training options, you can experience NIT in the way that best fits your lifestyle.
Niche Instructor Training has been approved by NASM, AFFA and ISSA.
AVAILABLE TRAINING PROGRAMS
Mat Training
Grounded in the foundational exercises developed by Joseph Pilates, our Mat Pilates education program teaches you how to build contemporary sequences that when put together, create dynamic, layered classes that progress in challenge and complexity.
Mat Pilates is the most accessible, making it a versatile and essential addition to any teaching repertoire. By offering Mat Pilates, you provide clients with a cost-effective, approachable way to experience the full benefits of Pilates, anytime and anywhere.
Through NIT’s comprehensive training, you’ll master our signature seamless flow, learn to provide effective modifications for all levels, and gain the tools to help clients feel confident, capable, and empowered in both movement and life.
Core of Mat Training
- Structure seamless transitions: Learn how to build classes that move smoothly from breathwork and warm-ups to elevated heart rate segments. Learn how to avoid abrupt shifts (such as moving from standing to lying down) and use creative sequencing and transitional moves to prevent stagnation (like repeating the same side of tabletop) to maintain dynamic flow.
- Balance demonstration with observation: Develop the skill of balancing demonstration with active observation. Cue form clearly while scanning the room for alignment, offering personalized modifications, and using your energy and voice to motivate clients safely to their own fullest potential.
- Keep classes creative and engaging: Design fresh, inspiring mat classes by starting with foundational movements and layering in creative progressions. Sustain high energy throughout the session, then lead participants into a grounded, intentional cooldown to close with balance and focus.

"Honestly, NIT has been perfect for me in terms of flexibility, and I have 5 kids to work around. It was one of the big things that gave me the push to do it. I started doing Pilates when I was postpartum with my last baby and fell in love when it helped with my anxiety. I feel like I’ve found a space where I belong outside of my kids.”

ALREADY A CERTIFIED INSTRUCTOR?
We offer continued education workshops to further your teaching practice and help you support your clients at every stage of their life!
“As a mom (and military spouse), being part of NIT was so much more than the certification. It allowed me to pursue something for me! It was flexible and allowed me to work around my family’s schedule. Even my husband and one of my sons got involved in my practice hours, which allowed for both family time while also pursuing my certifications. Highly recommend NIT for any moms looking to do something for themselves that still allows flexibility to be there for their family when needed.”

What is the TRAINING process like?
Our online program is a flexible program where you can set your training at your own pace. All coursework is fully virtual, providing you all the resources you need to become a successful Pilates instructor. Studio training requires in-person training, creating a collaborative environment where you receive hands-on practice teaching training with peers and real-time feedback from our instructors. Our Mat program requires 3 days of in-person training, while Reformer requires 5 days. Online coursework and resources are included in your purchase and must be completed to be eligible for test out.
Both online and studio training programs also require practice hours to be eligible for test out.
how long would it take to complete the program?
Completion of training varies on how much time you can dedicate per week. To learn more about each training program’s timeline, you may refer to each program summary below:
What is the testing process?
Your test consists of three components: Demonstration, Practice, and Written. In order to become eligible for registration, you must complete all of your online course work and document and submit your practice hours to education@nichefitstudio.com.
After review, you will receive days and times available for your test out. You will then select your preference and receive a link to complete payment for your test out. Test outs are $300 (Mat and Reformer Instructor Training packages include a $100 discount on test outs). Each component must meet a minimum of 85% passing score. If one does not meet that requirement, you may retake that component at the cost of an additional $100 per component.
How does payment work?
Payments can be made in full or in a 12-month installment plan. One-time payments are offered at $150 off the total final payment.
How long do I have access to the training material?
Students who test out (whether you pass or not) receive permanent access to our training material. Students who do not test out will have limited access up to 18 months. This applies to both Mat and Reformer courses.
What is your refund policy?
All training purchases are non-refundable as you receive immediate access to all online coursework at the time of purchase.
What if I want to take the training but not test out?
Testing out is purely optional! For students who are more aligned with the goal to learn versus the goal to teach, you don’t have to test out. Instructor training is a great way to help you understand your body and movement on a deeper level and we’re always here to support a learning opportunity!
If you elect to not test out, access to material is removed after 18 months. You are not required to pass your test out to maintain access to our material.
