Run Ready: Building Confidence in Coaching and Caring for Runners

Join us on March 29th for a workshop with Physical Therapist and Run Coach, Dr. Erin Kennedy, to learn how to confidently work with runners of all levels.

At Niche Pilates Studio, our mission is to help people move better and feel stronger. We're excited to announce our upcoming continuing education workshop with Dr. Erin Kennedy, a board-certified orthopedic physical therapist, certified running coach, and lifelong runner.

Meet Erin

Before she became a physical therapist, Erin was a runner. She ran her first 5K at five years old and her first marathon in high school. Since then, she has completed 11 marathons, 23 half marathons, and several ultramarathons.

Erin earned her Doctorate of Physical Therapy from The George Washington University and is a Board-Certified Orthopedic Clinical Specialist. She also holds certifications in Running Gait Analysis (Levels 1 and 2) and as a Certified Running Coach (RRCA).

Her deep understanding of running, both as an athlete and a clinician, informs her mission: to help runners move well, avoid injury, and enjoy the sport for life.

What You’ll Learn

This workshop blends the science of biomechanics with practical injury prevention and coaching strategies. Erin will guide attendees through:

  • Common movement patterns and muscle imbalances often found in runners and how to identify them early.

  • Injury insights to help determine when discomfort signals an underlying issue and how to adapt training or movement.

  • Effective coaching principles that empower instructors to support runners through progressions, setbacks, and performance goals.

Whether you teach Pilates, strength training, or other movement disciplines, you’ll gain tools to help your running clients train safely and more efficiently.

Why This Workshop Matters

Runners are highly motivated and dedicated athletes. They thrive on consistency and challenge, but that same drive can sometimes lead to overtraining or repetitive strain. Understanding how to balance their intensity with proper movement mechanics and recovery is key.

By developing a solid foundation in the biomechanics of running, identifying red flags early, and learning how to communicate training concepts clearly, you’ll become a stronger resource for runners in your classes or practice. This workshop is also a valuable opportunity to connect with fellow instructors who share a passion for helping clients move at their best.
